story
A young couple opted to switch architects during the construction phase and engaged Kor Architects to completely redesign their emerging home while adhering to the approved building footprint. Kor Architects promptly embarked on a design journey to manifest an aesthetic that mirrored the owners’ preference for understated sophistication. The primary architectural elements of the residence were swiftly simplified, devoid of embellishments, and shaped into streamlined forms that corresponded to the functional hierarchy of the dwelling. External materials were streamlined to wood, steel, and stucco, reinforcing a coherent visual and material continuity. To establish a strong connection to the waterfront on all levels, expansive operable openings were integrated, along with a two-story living area on the main floor that remains visually open to the upper-level relaxation space. The main level was configured with an open layout to suit the family’s relaxed lifestyle, with direct access to a spacious deck facilitating year-round entertainment. Secondary spaces were strategically arranged around the central living area and positioned on the western side of the house, adjacent to the garage and private access road.
